In 1992 Verify First Technologies (VFT)
developed and patented the ProGhost®
watermark that cannot be digitally defeated and has since become
a standard in document security. Several security paper mills incorporate
this technology on the back of their security papers. Today, in
2002, we recommend against the use of this paper because it is easily
purchased over the Internet and can also be printed by anyone who
has access to a printing press.
The MetallicSafe®
process was developed and patented by VFT in 1994. MetallicSafe®
requires "tip to light" visual inspection for verification and protects
against digital replication.
In 1994-95 VFT developed and patented methods to steel engrave
customized holographic or signature foil patterns. These techniques
are trademarked as TamperSafe®
- AlterSafe® and
RefractoSafe.
In 1995 VFT began working with thermochromic inks. Verify First
Technologies developed and applied for patents on the TouchSafe®
and ThermoHide
hidden message technologies which combine thermochromic and conventional
inks. TouchSafe®
is a fingerprint seal that requires the user's interaction and must
be breathed on, rubbed or touched to verify authenticity. ThermoHide
is a covert hidden message that both verifies authenticity and protects
the document from copying or alteration attempts.
In 1997 we developed and applied for patents on a new Copy/Void
Pantograph, trademarked ThermoSafe,
which works in conjunction with thermochromic inks. When properly
printed and combined with the NaNOcopy/LogoDot®
technologies it is superior to all other Copy/Void Pantographs currently
being offered. We introduced and applied for patents on our anti-copy
NaNOcopy technology
in 2000 and joined forces with Amgraf in 2001 in a collaboration
effort of combining our NaNOcopy
with their LogoDot®
technologies.
Also in 1997 we introduced our anti-copy technology trademarked
NoDupIt®. This technology
utilizes thermochromic inks to print specific screen frequency designs
to degrade or totally disappear when scanned or copied.
Yet another security innovation is trademarked CodeSafe®.
This patent-pending technology is the most advanced protection you
can offer your customers. CodeSafe®
incorporates a synthetic D.N.A. molecular code into the product.
This unique signature code is nearly impossible to replicate or
reverse engineer. Its molecular makeup is comprised of extremely
rare, protected elements. These elements create a unique spectral
"signature" which can be decoded with spectroscopic analysis equipment
in a forensic lab or in the field. In some applications the unique
code's presence can also be detected with a complementary chemical,
a blacklight or magnifying glass.
In April of 2001, Verify First Technologies introduced its' new
SafeImage security
paper. This custom true watermark paper is designed with five unique
security images embedded into it, which can only be viewed by translucent
"pass through" light. SafeImage
security paper also incorporates chemical inclusion protection,
toner fuse adhesion, blue and red visible fibers, invisible fluorescent
fibers, and most important, this very high-end security paper is
available only to security printers with certified and secure facilites.
In March of 2002, VFT launched its' new VerifyFirst
Security Envelope. This unique envelope incorporates a wrap-around
window for see through viewing and in addition, the powder substance
will adhere to the window.
The window is also designed to promote viewing of the LogoDot®
pattern printed on the inside of the envelope. The LogoDot®
graphic security cannot be photocopied or scanned without distortion.
The presence of LogoDot®
helps provide verification that the envelope and its contents were
sent from a trusted source.
Security manufacturers interested in increasing their sales by
offering these technologies can license all ten under one Portfolio
License Agreement. Manufacturers, customers, or end users who need
more detailed information regarding our technologies or license
agreement can call 805-238-2503 or e-mail info@verifyfirst.com.
